Game description:
Intrigue is the first project of the independent Robot Gentleman studio under the direction of Dominik Gotojuch. Developers tempted themselves for an innovative turn-based strategy, requiring both tactical and cunning skills from the players. The action of the game was set on the court of a fictional kingdom modelled on its counterparts from the Enlightenment period. There is a ruthless struggle for wealth and influence, and consequently also for the crown. Players have six playable characters at their disposal: King, Prince, Minister, General, Cardinal and Baron each with unique talents, motivations and goals. The game is about making conspiracies, which, with the use of available income and adequate financial resources, will allow to defeat the opponents. However, competitors in the race to the throne are not passive observers and make their own intrigues, so it is necessary to constantly adapt their strategy to the actions of their rivals and the changing situation in the kingdom. The creators of Intrigue put great emphasis on the variety of event scenarios and the simplicity of the game mechanics. Players also have a lot of freedom in conducting the game they can both strive for open conflict, conspiracy or try to exert pressure in diplomatic backstage. The game allows you to compete with artificial intelligence or live opponents using a "hot chair" or via the Internet. Jacek Nowacki is responsible for the visual layer of Intriga. He has prepared, among other things, portraits of characters and hand-drawn backgrounds and user interface elements.
